The Evernote Corporation has unveiled Evernote 10.0, a landmark new release of its cross-platform note-creation and organization tool. The free and paid-for service allows users to create, organize, share, and view notes across all major platforms, including the web, Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
Version 10 sees the app completely rebuilt on a new codebase, with the promise of better stability and reliability. It also promises a cleaner UI that’s consistent across all platforms, coupled with additional formatting tools to provide more control over how notes look, plus an improved -- and faster -- search tool.
- Some Evernote Mac Users Suffered Data Loss Due to Bug Posted by Evan Selleck on Oct 13, 2016 in Evernote For the folks out there that use Evernote on their Mac, and may have noticed that some of their data has gone missing recently, the company behind the popular note-taking app is sending out emails regarding the problem.
- Till now, note apps are highly in demand from people all over the world. Here, our blog will be discussing the best Evernote Alternatives in 2020 which you can use for better keeping of your every type of list. So, here we go with our tops picks but first, let us shed light on Evernote features and what does it lack. ? Features Missing in.
Evernote now boasts a single, unified user interface across all platforms and devices. It’s cleaner and more modern, promising to be both easier on the eye and more practical in helping users locate the features they need. Users also gain a new option to change the default width for all new notes -- choose between 'Optimize Readability' for a more focused view, or 'Fit to Window' to take full advantage of larger screens. There is also a 'New Note' button, reimagined sketch tool, and support for Dark Mode.
The unified approach is partly down to the switch to a new codebase, which Evernote claims provides stronger foundations that result in fewer crashes and hangs, while new releases will ship faster not simply with bug fixes, but also new features. The new platform also promises to improve sync performance across platforms.
Users also gain improved note creation and formatting tools. Support for semantic header styles and tables provide better structure for notes, while checklists can now be indented, reordered using simple drag and drop, and more easily managed thanks to a single click or tap to mark an item as done.
The formatting toolbar has been redesigned to make the most popular tools more accessible: font styling and colors, multiple highlighter options, checklists, and links are among those easily accessible. The toolbar also gains a multi-function Insert button to simplify adding a range of rich content types, from images and file attachments to sketches and code blocks.
The update also comes with improvements to the built-in search tool, designed to speed up the process of locating hard-to-find notes. Real-time search suggestions appear as users type search terms, while searches now also support for filters to further refine them -- options include tags, attachments, and URLs.
Users also gain the ability to not just combine keywords, tags, and locations within searches, but also an option to save those searches for future use.
Because of the switch to a new codebase, Evernote users may find certain features have disappeared -- including support for AppleScript, importing folders, and the option to edit note creation dates. Some be added in due course -- keep checking the Windows and Mac release notes for details of what’s missing and what’s in development; users who need these features are directed to continue using legacy versions of the apps for now.
Evernote 10.0 is available now as a free download for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android. Free plans are limited to two devices and other caps (such as 60MB monthly upload limit, and offline access via desktop only); Premium plans cost $7.99/£4.99 a month.
Everyone needs a capable note-taking app to keep things organized. Evernote is the oldest note-taking software out there. The majority uses the software as file-cabinet to keep notes, documents, web clippings, and more. As for Apple users, Apple Notes is the default option for them. With each iteration of iOS and macOS, Apple is adding more features to the Notes app. If you are getting confused about these two apps, then you have come to the right place.
Apple Notes is focusing on simplicity while Evernote weights on organization and features. Each software has its pros and cons. You might find one that suits your needs and requirements.
In this post, we are going to compare Evernote to the Apple Notes on Mac. We will also have a word on mobile apps. The comparison will cover Cross-platform availability, User Interface, Note organization, Note editor, features, pricing, and more. Let’s get started.
Cross-Platform Availability
In this area, you will always find Apple apps at a disadvantage. Apple Notes is only available on iOS, iPad OS, and macOS. Evernote is accessible everywhere, including iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and iPad.
User Interface
Both the apps follow the standard design elements for a notes app. Starting with Apple Notes, it offers all the notebook folders on the left pane, and notes on the right side.
Only one element bothers me in Apple Notes. The formatting bar remains at the top. There is no way to hide it.
Evernote looks and feels better to me. The software uses the dark-themed sidebar with notebooks, tags, trash, and other options. Evernote also lets you choose from multiple note-viewing options such as Card view, Snipped view, Side List view, and more. Unlike Apple Notes, the formatting bar only comes to play when you try to edit the note.

Starting with Apple Notes, the software allows you to create multiple notebooks. You can create sub-notebooks inside it. Unfortunately, there is no way to tag a note and find it using the added tag.
Evernote shines when it comes to notes organization. You can create notebooks and even add multiple tags to note for a better organizational structure. Adding tags is one of the best features of Evernote. I hope Apple Notes and OneNote take inspiration from it.
Note Editor
